The class I came out to help out with didn't happen. The cross-winds were too strong and the plane carrying the instructor couldn't land. She had a weather hold in Chevak for almost an hour before the plane went back to Bethel (I had no idea because we heard on the radio that the plane went back to Bethel).
I tried to do something with the people there which didn't really go over that well, and when I found out that no more planes were going to come today I had to cancel the class and reschedule it for a future date.
The storm hasn't been that bad here (i.e. we didn't get a ton of snow) but the winds have been crazy, with sustaining winds at 30 mph and gusts over 40 mph.
Everyone at the school has been very nice. They helped me track down my bags which arrived to me frozen, but that was fine-nothing you can't thaw out! I went to the AC store with a bunch of teachers and bought some food- just in case. I spent the rest of the day at teacher housing watching cable TV (I don't even care what I watch on TV anymore, but it was "Pinks" on Fox Speed so I got to talk about hot rods :) ), Mystery Science Theater, and playing cribbage.
