Our last stop was to the parking lot of Flattop mountain to watch the northern lights/aurora borealis. We thought we saw them just outside of Seward but weren't sure because they were so faint, but once we got to Turnagain Arm and started entering Anchorage we definitely saw them. There were a lot of people, especially couples, on top of Flattop watching the aurora. Flattop looks over the city of Anchorage, so at that time you could look up and see the northern lights, look down and see the city lit up, and look behind you and see the mountains illuminated by the full moon.
I know these pictures aren't the greatest, but I was happy to at least capture some of that beauty. The stuff that kind of looks like smoke is the aurora. It was a very pale green and not too much "dancing" when we saw it.
