Shipping

Getting things shipped to Alaska sucks and requires some ingenuity.  A website that says "free shipping" will often have an itty bitty disclaimer saying that they only have free shipping to the continental US (um, we ARE in the continental US because we're on the continent!) or the contiguous US or the Lower 48.

And then it takes a really long time.  I ordered fleece from Joann's because they were having a sale, but I'm debating whether or not I should just wait until I go to Anchorage because...

Standard Delivery:
Orders delivered to the 48 contiguous United States or to the Canadian Provinces of AB, BC, MB, NB, NL, ON, NS, SK and PE should arrive in 7 – 10 business days. Orders delivered to the Canadian Provinces of NT, NU, and YT, should arrive in 14 – 21 business days. Orders delivered to an APO/FPO, Alaska, Hawaii and any U.S. Territory address, should arrive in 20 – 30 business days.

20-30 business days??  That's 4-6 WEEKS.
