Chicago Adventures

Last night we had to get out of the hotel, so a whole mess of us went downtown to see the fireworks at Navy Pier.  It was quite the adventure trying to figure out the El.  Two of us were having issues putting our tickets in the turnstiles the correct way, and a mother and daughter behind us said "They've never been on the train before, God bless them!".

Navy Pier was amazing.  There was so much to look at, from the skyline to all the people walking around.  We walked around and then found someplace to sit to watch the fireworks.  We had heard that there were thunderstorms coming our way and could see lightening off in the distance, and once the fireworks had ended it started to rain pour.

Luckily we made it back to the subway (after walking 8 blocks in the rain) without getting struck by lightening or by being blown away by Chicago's famous winds! On the train we met up with someone else from orientation who told us an  incredible story about how he met this guy and they had a huge discussion about poverty.
